⚙️ Introduction
In high-precision weighing, even a 0.2 mg error can lead to failed tests, rejected batches, or incorrect results. That’s why it’s essential to follow industry-best practices when handling your analytical scale.
At Shree Shree Weighing Solutions, we train labs and industries across Gujarat on precision handling, calibration, and storage of analytical balances. Follow these tips to ensure your readings remain accurate year after year.
🧰 Before You Start Weighing
1. Place the Scale on a Vibration-Free Surface
Use anti-vibration pads or marble tables for stability. Avoid wood or plastic surfaces near machinery.
2. Check Leveling Bubble
Before every session, ensure the scale is level using the in-built spirit bubble and adjustable feet.
3. Allow Warm-Up Time
Switch on the scale 30 minutes before use for thermal equilibrium.
🧪 During Weighing
1. Close the Draft Shield
Air movement affects microgram-level readings. Always weigh with the draft shield closed.
2. Use Gloves or Tweezers
Touching samples or weights by hand introduces moisture or oil — which impacts accuracy.
3. Use Correct Containers
Avoid heavy or metal containers. Use lightweight, clean glass or plastic containers.
4. Tare Properly
Always tare the container before adding the sample.
5. Wait for Stabilization Symbol
Don't record a weight until the scale displays the stable icon (✓ or similar).
🧽 Post-Weighing Care
1. Clean the Pan and Chamber
Use alcohol wipes or lint-free cloths to remove residue. Never use water directly.
2. Store in Dry Environment
Moisture can damage sensors. Use silica pouches in storage cabinets.
3. Cover the Scale
When not in use, keep the scale covered with a dust guard or case.
